Our meetings so far have always been in Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline, but we are in the process of investigating options to include an additional venue in the Cupar area. Keep watching for further information. We hope to be able to start having some meetings there before the end of this year.
The venue we use in Dunfermline is fully accessible, but unfortunately this was not the case in the past with the venue we were using in Kirkcaldy prior to lock down. This was addressed for our August meeting and will continue to be a priority for the future. Unfortunately, whilst the previous location was made available to us for free it proved impossible to secure a suitable venue on the same basis going forward. We are, therefore, very grateful to have received a Fife Equality Community Grant to enable us to pay for meeting space and refreshments for the next three Kirkcaldy meetings. (October, December and February).
With accessibility in mind we hope to have a permanent, official base for our Kirkcaldy meetings in future. Unfortunately this will not be ready in time for the October meeting, but December could be quite a party!
Last month’s meeting in Dunfermline saw a record attendance, and included eight new faces! This certainly proves that there is a need for a group such as ours, and we will continue to do all we can to give people a chance to meet up in a safe and welcoming environment going forward.
A formal constitution has been drafted, butchered, reworked several times, and was presented to those at the last meeting for final discussion. Having now been agreed upon we are in a position to apply for a group bank account and, from there, operating on a more formal level, we aim to apply for further funding to ensure the group can continue to operate and expand it’s reach throughout Fife in the future.
Wish us well!
